How to monitor an application's installation

Let's say you want to install an application. Because you plan to completely uninstall the application later, you want to monitor the install, in order to get the installation log with which you can fully uninstall the application.

If the installation monitor is not already running in your system tray you can start it from your Start Menu. In order to monitor an application's setup, please right click on the installation monitor's tray icon to access this menu:

From this menu please choose Install a new application. A file open dialog will pop up. In the file open dialog please select the installation program (setup file) you wish to monitor.

The installation monitor will start the setup file, and will also start monitoring the installation. You can tell that the installation monitor is monitoring the installation because you will see the installing window:

When you see this window, please use the program's setup the way you normally do to install the application. After the program is installed, please press the Finish button to stop monitoring the installation and to save the installation log.

The instructions in the monitoring window above are also important, so please read them.

Installation monitoring can also start automatically

When you run a setup file, the installation monitor may detect that a program installation is going on and ask you whether you want to monitor it. Here is the dialog that appears when the installation monitor detects that a setup program may be running:
